Smalltown Confession

Hey all!

I didn't think I'd get a new tune out before the New Year, but I managed it!

This uses Bronski Beat's 'Smalltown Boy' instrumental (another excellent remake from Neil @ Atomix Extended Cuts, I think ;)) along with Diana Ross' vocals from 'I'm Coming Out'.

mARKYbOY's Most Popular Downloads 2008

It's been a very productive year for me and I've had fantastic comments from hundreds of people including a mention of my 'Deee-liteful Milkshakes' tune in the Guardian newspaper at the start of the year. A number 7 entry on John Sakamoto's 'Anti-Hit List' over in Toronto with my 'Back to the Ritz' tune .

I've also had the pleasure to be featured on two SoundUnsound compilations that went out this year - Summer Booty 2008 and Bhangra Bootay. Later in the year I was contacted by Scott Johnson over at Ramdom Thoughts to see if I would be interested in putting together some exclusive tunes that he would feature in a special 'mARKYbOY' show.

I completed two further projects/mash up albums - Black to Back, Amy Winehouse Mashed & mARKYbOY's Motown Mashed both of which were very well received and the downloads sent my bandwidth through the roof (still does!)

Anyways.........................................................................................................................

I've decided to put all my most popular tunes (ones with 400+ downloads) of 2008 into two neat packages for download.

Click the pics for the tracklists and the titles to download the album.

The first one 'The Night Before' is definately one for the feet, containing 14 of my most popular dance tunes of the year.

THE NIGHT BEFORE - New Link!

Secondly comes 'The Morning After' - definately one for the head, containing 14 of my most popular downtempo/chilled out tunes.

Have a great Christmas and a very happy New Year!

A Benz is a Little Better

Ho ho ho......Merry Christmas!

The following tune is a mantra that I'll be chanting tonite when the big fella in red is doing his rounds!

The tune uses Janis Joplin's vocals from 'Mercedes Benz' over Gnarls Barclay's instrumental 'Little Better' from The Odd Couple album.

Hope Santa brings you all you want (including the Benz!)

She's Always a Last Dance to Me

A couple of 70's tunes mashed for you this time. This tune uses Billy Joel's vocals from 'Always a Woman to Me' laid over Donna Summer's 'Last Dance' instrumental. It turns Billy's tune from a melancholic ballad into a bit of a disco floor filler.

Last Chance at a Losing Game

Hi

This tune has been lurking on my hard drive for ages so I thought I'd tidy it up and put it out. It uses a reworked instrumental of Amy Winehouse's 'Love is a Losing Game' under Natalie's vocals from Miss Lady Pinks 'Last Chance'. A complete new R n B vibe to Amy's and Miss Pinks tunes.
